So, now you’ve downloaded the Content Compiler Developer Tools, double-clicked it and a window appeared for some time and then vanished again. Now you might think: What? That was it?

No, of course not! If you start Visual Studio next time, you’ll see that inside the “Add Reference”-Window four new Entries appeared. You see, there did something happen! Now you can add a reference to the compiler libraries quickly to your project. But you have to care about the Runtime versions of the Libraries! Runtime version 2.0 for XNA 3 and Runtime version 4.0 for XNA 4!
